It has that same type of smell , but not quite as strong. I had heard that the Wellington one smells bad because of the floor cleaning products used. The strange thing is that they sell the same things as other electroic retailers, but their stores don't smell. Although Harvey Normans also has it's own distinct smell in their furniture store which hits you when you walk in, it has a chemical sort of smell, possibly the offgasing of the furniture products. Although I find JBs in Wellington quite an offensive smell, like a BO smell.  Smell is a powerful thing when it comes to emotions, and I wonder if they actually pump the smell in. They do these in places like Disneyland, where they have vents all over the park that pump out smells.

Well I am off to the US after Xmas I am sure to hit both Frys and Best Buy. Maybe I can shoot some photos for those who have never been to those stores. I find in Frys it's impossible to find sales staff when you want them and when you do they usually say, "this is not my department". Best Buy is much better but you usually have to look for them - they don't come and ask you if you want help.

JB is pretty good. I have bought some good bargains from them (Wellington store) but I didn't see a bargain bin at Queensgate. On reflection the aisles, especially on the LHS as you walk in a pretty narrow and certainly not wheelchair friendly. DSE seems to be more friendly in that respect but I don't know if there is a lift that goes to their floor, only the escalators,

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

The layout is odd, as they stack so much in, there's very little visibility when wondering through some parts.
Compare it to a Harvey's or Noel's, where they don't stack anything over should height.
JB's reduce costs by holding stock in-store and thereby requiring a smaller warehouse... of course, it means they don't always know where stock should be located...
