Oh cute!! We always had two cats back when we had cats- most were strays. Two cats work out really well in our experience.

Make sure the neighbors know the white one is deaf so they keep an eye out when leaving their driveway etc.

We got both our kittens from the spa, really worth it.
Apparently the staff member said there is 'kitten season' where they have an influx of kittens. Just phone and find out the best times of year.

You can go in and select a kitten. They ask you simple general knowledge questions to make sure it's going to a good home.

Eg. Do you have other cats, dogs or kids.... this helps them identify if the cat is suitable. Especially if it's an adult cat.

Yes I do agree that you shouldn't only go for a kitten, however adult cats come with previous issues .....abusive owners in the past, not trained (pooping where ever they feel like etc).

But yes, definatly go first thing in the morning, as they open.

One of our cats has developed quite a deafness in his old age.

Im always paranoid about him on the driveway, but he actually does do a good job at noticing the vibrations and moving. cats are pretty smart :)

But definitely watch out for that! would hate for anything to happen to the poor thing!

I got my two when they were quite young - same litter as I figured they will keep each other company when I am not home - cats are very emotional animals, are sapient and they communicate with body language, sound and smell - its worth while learning their calls and expressions. Mine are trained to come to the call and I taught one to fetch and retrieve. When I am not in the city I take them for walks each night (they walk at the heel) around the house and garden. Generally during the week I ensure I spend at least 15 minutes each morning and night with them - the standard games are tag, hide and seek or chase the ball - the rest of the time they generally get involved in whatever I am doing.

I would suggest cats need to eat quite a bit of protein which is what the biscuits are for (kitten formula has a higher amount than cat), and the meat is mainly for moisture and variety - they generally have a whiskers sachet each morning and night and whiskers cat milk in the mornings - they share fresh bowl of biscuits each morning (when they were kittens I mixed them with their food for a while). I also vary their food quite often so they don't get fussy.

One thing is to make sure one is aware of the costs of vaccinations and chipping - also the former need to be done each year. Mine get flu, FeV and FIV and get a twice annual dose of Revolution flea treatment. All of their history including weights, vaccinations, treatments etc are kept in each cats vet log book - the vaccination certificates are needed if they need to go into a cattery. I kept mine inside for the first few months until they had completed their initial vaccinations.
