MikeAqua: My music is from cloud providers

You should still have a backup. Your provider may lose the rights to your favourite song - although 99% of my iTunes library is redownloadable, I still keep a backup for that 1%.

One day I realised that I never look at my photos.  So I stopped taking them.  Photo's were 90% of my backed up data.

That's right - 99% of digital photos should be immediately deleted as they are duplicates of the 1 photo that you need. The almost zero cost means you rattle them off when in the 'old' days of film you would take one or maybe 2 if it was a big deal. OK, maybe if you're doing something creative with your photography - but most of the pics I see the family taking are very 'unremarkable'. I cant see a family historian going through all 50 DVDs of my sons' time on swings.

There must be shedloads of old family photos/slides etc in the landfills - they're usually unimportant except to the taker and those closest to him/her.

I find more and more of my photos volume is video files taken at same time and I definitely look at those again.

They capture so much more than a photo.

You remind me of my childhood.  I am the oldest and my dad took up photography when I was born, hence a huge number of baby and toddler picks of me.  By the time my brother was born two and half years later he had given up, and there are only three pictures of him up to the age of three.  He was pretty good a storing negatives safely though.  My brother takes it personally.  LOL

I did wonder if that advert would strike a nerve with some people. I bet your brother would hate it

You're not on Atlantis anymore, Duncan Idaho.
