Booya, looking forward to testing this.

People in Napier snap out when I put use Paywave with my regular credit card, I expect some grannies will now fall over backwards.

Very annoying! :p

Unrooted, added virtual card, all went ok.

Re-rooted and now the ASB app does not start any more. It hangs on startup :(

Hi everyone.

We've got some news for Android users!

ASB Virtual has been launched this morning; more info here: https://blog.asb.co.nz/posts/2016/06/turn-your-android-phone-into-your-asb-visa-card.html

I get the following error:
"Sorry, your device does not support ASB virtual"

Is it because my phone is rooted?

Nexus 6p, latest M release, full stock, but rooted..

That will be the issue. Don't expext a bank to ever support a rooted device.

All set up fine on my Nexus 5x, now to find a paywave terminal and test it. Only thing I would like to see is ASB integrating the fingerprint sensor into the process for added security, they could even replace the asb app login with fingerprint, that would be really cool.

Just gave it a go on my Voda Smart Prime and it worked as advertised. Sweet! Now I don't need to get the Semble sim that I never quite got around to getting.

Now I can move my other phone to skinny and still be able to pay with it.

Any limit to the number of phones per asb account? Is it just the annoying limit of 3 that the app lets you have or is it limited to 1 phone per login or something daft?

Hi Rich, you can load ASB Virtual on up to 3 devices - one which you can use for payments, and you can see and control ASB Virtual on the other 2 devices. Thanks ^SM

:(

Im hoping it doesnt all turn to crap when I swap sim cards out like semble does at least.

Why the limitations on how many devices. Not being able to use the asb app on all my devices is annoying enough as it is.

I just uninstalled the semble app from my note 4 (not that you need it once the sim is set up but kept it anyway for some reason), and it told me my default payment option had gone and let me get into that list of payment options where I was able to choose the ASB app, also listing android pay, go money and the comm bank app.

The thing is, this list isnt available in the NFC and sharing menu on my phone, it disappeared from there either on the mashmellow update or the one before that. Anyone know if that is available anywhere else on the phone? Its a spark branded firmware so perhaps something they have requested be hidden on it?

Steps to make someone laugh almost uncontrollably:

1) Say "Semble"

2) There is no step 2.

I removed all the other payment apps and put them back and the menu to choose the default payment one is back so I blame one of them for messing it up. Interestingly enough comm bank has gone from the list now but I did have a really old version of it installed and it was locked from updating so perhaps that also was a cause of it.

Now just have to get enough motivation to go to maccas to give it a shot on the make your own burger kiosk.
