I have had firefox throw all sorts of insecure errors recently, whereas chrome and IE and edge are fine on the same sites, and ssl labs also says it was fine. Usually complaining that the cert is for another site and its the shopping cart site or similar.

Firefox have always Been putting security first. Yes that will mean some false postive SSL errors. But I much prefer that compared to a false negative. (Browser not detecting or reporting an SSL error)

chewster:

I'm learning more and more to judge a company by their hiring systems & processes. Having things like online application forms, cloud based HR systems, apply with linkedin buttons, file format agnosticism, automated interview scheduling, progress tracking etc are all great when used right, and can leave a great first impression.

Companies that ask for a .doc or can't even accept a PDF generated from LaTeX - I'd seriously consider avoiding because you'll end up miserable when you're stuck there with visionless, inefficient and utterly behind the times technology & staff.

Genuinely interested to ask - which Cloud providers do you trust with YOUR hr information? Amazon in Australia? Oracle in China? Workday in India? I'm not aware that there are any cloud HR systems where the data is held in NZ - is this of concern at all?

Is there ANY data you wouldn't want hosted offshore? Medical records?

Depends on size of company, frequency of hiring. You wouldn't invest in all that capability if you are a small company that only hires once a year.

A recruitment firm, sure.

Although, I have to say I dislike online CV generators. I have a CV and it's so much easier to email or upload it intact than the copy and paste into a dozen fields.

Was specifically meaning the hiring system in a cloud not too worried being that a CV is basically public with linkedin these days anyway. Have yet to send a medical record with a job application.

One example of cloud/SaaS hiring HR system is the NZ startup Weirdly.

The normal meaning of 'HR system' is a system to manage HR. Weirdly looks like a recruitment system.

Semantics aside, I wonder how people feel about personal and confidential information such a payroll, HR, tax, and medical records, being held offshore, where the clouds are?
