Silly SSID's is probably a separate topic in its own right - I think it's been done on GZ before.

I just went looking for this but cannot find it :(

Ditto... Maybe we just need bigger antennas...

EDIT: that was supposed to be before @mdf's reply. But it makes even more sense after, in context, so I'm keeping it.

Stupidest thing I did was naively assuming that the firmware update download on the manufacturer website (DLink from memory) would work on my then-Telecom supplied router. Hellooo, Mr Bricky.

Much later (and a different router) I did a DDWRT flash once without following *all* the steps in the Peacock Thread. Realised this halfway through and had a very nervous 10 minute wait to see whether Mr Bricky would end up with a friend. Fortunately all ended well.

And a few times (though I've now learned) fiddled with a router (disabling internet access) without having a backup if I ended up needing to google further instructions.

Ha that reminds me of another story..

Was messing with router one night, while hammered... missed recommitting restoring the settings back to normal.

Go to work the next day and come home to moaning about the internet being dead..

Took me the best part of an hour to realize, i had untagged the PPPoE interface on router...
