my item hasn't arrived after 2 months, I raise a dispute saying item not arrived
Seller extends purchase protection and asks to cancel dispute for now to give more time.
Question: If I cancel dispute, will I be able to raise another dispute if it still doesn't arrive in a month?

Nope, so dont do that. That sort of crap is what I find happens when I buy from the cheapest on there, so I usually buy from someone that is 10-20% more than the cheapest. I also dont want to screw them down too much on their margins if they actually are going to ship things.

I don't buy tons of stuff but I have made a number of purchases over time, mainly small electronics items, and experiences have been generally good. The traders I have encountered all seem honest and items are generally as described. Most have arrived faster than stuff shipped from Auckland. No issues with faulty goods. My worst complaint would be the time I bought a sound card and could not get a driver or any info to find the right one, which cost me some hassle. When I did finally find the right one I posted a link with my feedback for others.
The biggest problem with Aliexpress is that if you have an issue that cannot be handled by one of their automated systems (usually the case), it is utterly impossible to find a path to an actual human being. The traders themselves are another matter. Most are quick to respond to queries and the English is generally adequate, though sometimes scrambled. However, you can not get any information from any trader that is not already in the listing. They simply don't have it and they can't obtain it. The don't have the products they sell in their possession and they don't know anything more about them than the blurbs they post. They simply act as agents. So you need to have a good idea of what you want and how it works before you buy.

For the sellers that sell everything from acrylic nails to sex toys to quadcopters etc that is true, but if you find a seller that has only one sort of thing they are usually a lot better at knowing what they sell.
Accounts on there are bought and sold all the time, the photos and descriptions are also traded between sellers. Things they list will often be things they do not have, but can walk across the market to someone else and buy one when it comes time to sell one.
I have never purchased from Aliexpress but my wife has. One occasion recently she purchased a suit, the jacket arrived and two weeks later the pants arrived, she was quite amused by it. I was looking at some men clothes and she warned me about Asian sizing and suggested that I not buy from them as I am tall 6' 2".
I have never ordered IT equipment from them I prefer to buy from NZ sources.
Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.
When purchase protection is running out (say in 10 days), I usually ask the seller to extend the purchase protection before I raise the dispute.
Some extend the purchase protection and the item usually arrives.
Those that don't extend or ignores my message, I raised the dispute and get refunded. And usually their item never arrived.
3 non-receipt items out of 155. That's 98% receipt rate which is not bad.
Don't fill in the feedback until you have the product in your hand and have tried it out.
If the product is no good, do give negative feedback. Vendors seem to be very sensitive to it, and will offer vouchers and other inducements to get it removed. OTOH, don't remove it until you've got your payoff in your hand. So far I haven't actually received any of them (nor have I removed the negative feedback).
