hio77: Often ill give each service its own unique tag, helpful for any time any details are leaked.. know exactly who to point fingers at and say your database is exposed.

Ahh yes, another story: Door knocker from Tiny Mighty power company had a good deal and I signed up. Email address? tinymighty@mydomain.net. Cue confused look.

Ah yes, also familiar with that look. Usually followed by "really?". And sometimes "are you sure?"

Does make it easy to filter emails, and certainly makes it easy to find out who is sharing your email address. Oh that's interesting... I don't remember telling Company B my email address was companya@mydomain.com...

I like the companya@myhostname.com idea - brilliant.

In the days when companies wanted your email address, and before facebook "likes" were the currency of entrance, I used bogus@{popularfreeemail}.com

If that account really existed, the owner must have gotten pretty annoyed at all the spam I was causing to be be sent.

I always sign up as "me@mine.com" when it's a blatant spam-likely site, and rarely have to re-sign with my spam email account (used for validation requirements) ... Pity the poor beggar who has that unlikely email as its my defacto "go to" for the last 10+ years 😂

Anything @example.com is guaranteed to not go anywhere, and most sites don't seem to blacklist the domain.

My old Gmail account gets some random things, latest was a (South African) $5000 debt for someone with a completely different name. But I've had all sorts... UK Job Searches, Landrover US, Mobile Services, CVs, personal correspondence, I even had legally privileged documents once(!).

One of my gmail accounts gets a lot of stuff intended for a real estate agent in florida. And also recently received a $200 Amazon Canada card for mother's day

Another gmail account had a kid regularly emailing his uncle at my address for about 6 months

I've had a new apple account created and an iphone activated against my address - that took a lot of willpower to leave alone. Stuff like snapchat and pandora accounts I usually password recover and take over.
