Yes, one thing that I like about My Food Bag is that they generally have new things for you/me to try out.

We've had two bargain boxes now and found them good. We are doing 5 meals every other week.
My only real complaint is that they are supplied by Talleys. I refuse to buy anything from that company, or their subsidiaries like AFFCO, due to their appalling health and safety record. They also have horrid history with employment law. IMO Talleys is a toxic brand and I don't want to support them in any way.
This means we are considering cancelling it which would be disappointing.
Seems like some people have asked about it on their Facebook page late Feb this year and they were having Talleys "Under Review". Looks like they haven't done anything about it so far!

Fair enough concern; I too actively avoid purchasing anything manufactured by Talleys for the same reason. If you do end up quitting, you may like to advise MFB/BB for the reason so they continue to get the message.
I get their gourmet box and, as I live alone, I cook a meal for two which means I don't have to cook the second night - I order fortnightly. I like that the food is good quality, free range etc and I am using a lot of new items I never dreamed of trying. They had a dip in quality a while back and I switched to the single option, but didn't like the meals as much. If I'm paying a lot I like special food. Now I've switched back they do seem to have returned to their former high standard.
My biggest gripe is that they sometimes use low-fat yoghurt and always use skinless chicken. I don't follow the low-fat fad diet so instead of a dash of oil as required in the recipe I add a big dollop of butter or lard - big improvement.
They tend to be generous on vegetables but sometimes the meat portion could be bigger. The proportion of carbs is often very high, so much of this goes in the bin or is hogging up my pantry unused. If you have someone who loves their carbs they'll be happy.
I know I need to eat more fish and vegetables and this is a very tasty way to do it. Left to my own devices I tend not to eat so healthily.

Me too - I was disappointed to get a Talley's item in my bag. I'll say something next time. It's odd because otherwise they seem quite good on ethical sourcing. It's a big selling point with me.
No food bag in Nelson.
But I have a wok, a cleaver and many many sauces.
Chop, fry, sauce, done.
Never the same twice

I prefer to do my own cooking. But I guess they are good for people who aren't used to cooking. I was speaking ot someone who tryed it out, and they said they found it hard work to make, as you had to really think out it, which they didn't want to do at the end of the day. Have so many good cook books and online recipies, and you can make enough for several days. I agree though the quality of fruit and veges from supermarkets is very poor, so it is good they are using good fresh stuff, and that is probably a big benefit of using them. Unfortunately they have put my local green grocers out of business, so the supermarket is the only place to buy fruit and veges, or grow your own. A friend also buys their fruit and veges from an organic farm, that is sent to them, and that is another good option who want fresh healthy food, but want more control over the food they cook.
