My SOHO setup:

I'm on HFC cable 100/10Mbps, with a Cisco modem, Ubiquiti EdgeRouter Lite, and Cisco switch, with a single Ubiquiti UniFi AP AC in a cupboard in the centre of our house.

5 GHz WiFi connects to 2 laptops, one desktop PC, and one iPad.

I usually get full line speeds on my wireless ac laptop, one room away from the UniFi.

Wireless n devices are slower, but the connection is reliable.

Currently running Spark fixed mobile 4G on a Huawei B315s modem, attached to a Netcomm powerline device.

Devices running on it are 2 smart tvs, a Samsung smart blu-ray player, Marantz SR5010 network audio amplifier, Sky decoder, a couple of laptops, a couple of tablets and a couple of mobiles.

D-Link DIR 636L

runs off cable modem. Connects to three PC's on ethernet, three notebooks on WiFi and three phones on WiFi (although lots of other folk seem to have access too on their phones). And Chromecast too of course.

Has a ridiculously long WiFi password. SSID: GCSB Monitor 1016

I'm set for good Wifi, but my Father in law, his is built into his Router, one of the HG Vodafone ones, and even with thier pretty low usage, the frustration is pretty evident. He is coming up on retirement, it would be nice to put one of these in for him, and the benefit being I'll be able to asssist him remotely with it's cloud functions. They have about 6 connected devices.

The signal range on the fritz is pretty bad.

I doubt it. Auction description was 4 words. " Dlink modem. Good condition" and the picture was dark and fuzzy. Was a $1 reserve.

Took the point and it paid off. Sometimes it doesnt.

Huawei B315 4G modem.

TPLink WR1043 connected as well to provide some additional wifi for more devices needed for work.

Devices connected - probably 15 to 20 at any one time

Currently using a combination of a Fritzbox! 7490 and a Ubiquiti unifi AP Pro with roughly 20 devices connected.

Will post a photo once I'm back in Auckland.

Huawei HG659 Router. Connections upstairs are dodgy with poor signal levels. This would fix that problem.

We have the standard Spark HG659b modem running wifi to:

iPad
HTC One
iPhone 5
2 x Samsung Smart TVs
PS4
Samsung Galaxy Tab S
Kindle Paperwhite
2 x laptops

The wifi signal downstairs is a bit dodgy and an access point would be a great fix.

Apart from that, the whole setup is costing us a fortune in hamster food pellets:
