I (very occasionally) drive our Honda hybrid.

It gets very little use (9,000km in 5 years!) and is often unused for weeks at a time.

Not surprisingly, the starter battery often goes flat (5 AA flat battery call-outs in the last year, despite a new heavy-duty battery).

I don't blame the car - it isn't being used normally.

A PowerAll would be ideal, instead of bothering the AA.  smile

Here is my system! So useful to call my hubby, who has some way of animating our car. I would like to give this to him.

Yay! Another Fathers Day gift to go for.

My old Mitsi has no warning if the lights are left on so it happens sometimes.

I carry jump leads but it can be a hassle finding someone to jump off.

They are all worried you will blow their electrics on their flash cars.

I am often away from civilisation too which adds another level of complication too!

AA if there is no one around to help via jumper cables.

Having a built in jump start battery would be great for those times and faster than waiting for AA to arrive.

I would phone a friend for sure. Have been rescued once, just outside Levin on the way back from Wellington (Nitro Circus) and was sooo grateful. If I had this, I could maybe one day return the favour.

Phone a friend - got jumper cables in my truck which I have never (touch wood) had to use myself but probably helped out over a dozen friends/family/strangers over the years. Used to have a cheap and nasty booster pack but it was loaned out and never returned. Would love this to put in the wifes car, to save me having to drive out and jump start her when she leaves the lights on, on the other side of town!

I have roadside assist, but live too far from anywhere for it to be practical. So, when (alas) the battery goes flat, then it's a case of putting it on the charger, and waiting (which takes as while as it's a large battery to start a diesel).

This could also be very useful to start my tractor (which gets little use, so that usually has to be started via a jump from the car).

And having one of these would also have meant I could've cut the grass today (the ride on lawn mower's battery was flat as well :( )

I'm terribly slack. Jumper cables got tidied up when we moved (4 months ago) and I haven't dug them out to put back in the car yet. Or refilled the emergency water bottles. I'm probably doomed. Unless I win.

Last time the car battery died was years ago. Wife called the AA. Our kindly neighbour (elderly gent) just about burst into tears that she hadn't asked him for a jump start or to ask him to go buy a new battery when he saw the AA truck out front.

The worst thing is to get a flat battery in the boat. Usually I try and look for a sloping lake or a steeper bit of sea in case we need to roll start it. I've been thinking of getting a jump start pack to give to my father as he's getting too old to push start boats. This will be the perfect gift for my father on father's day, and I will once again regain my crown as favoured son.

Thanks Geekzone.

Woke up this morning to hear the engine not turning over after replacing the battery only a few months ago! So ended up biking to work and will call Roadside assistance tonight :(

If someone is around with jump leads (or I have mine) I give that a crack, otherwise I use the AA, they have rescued me a few times :)

I would use it in my boat also.  If the battery goes flat, I pull start the outboards (70HP each) by wrapping a rope around the fly wheel.

I would also call the AA... unless I had a PowerAll Deluxe...
