It's not an obscene amount of money at all.

I thought we got over that "money is the root of all evil" stuff back in the '80s. Greed is good.  I see goodness everywhere these days.

Try telling that to some of the people who have won big amounts, and lost it all, as well as all their friends and family. It brings out the worst in people. The fact is people have more chance of being struck by lightning.

Well no.  You are actually more likely to win Lotto 1st division than to be struck and killed by lightning.

To reassure you of one thing, I had my sarcasm hat on when I posted my greed is good comment.

mattwnz: I hope no one wins, and it is broken down into 44 prizes of 1 million. It is an obscene amount of money IMO to have as a draw. Obviously they are appealing to people's greed to sell tickets, but people have almost no chance of winning the big one based on the stats

If the odds are low for one person getting all the numbers, they are sure as hell even lower for multiple people getting all of the same numbers.

Yeah, but since it is a guaranteed win, since there will likely be no 1st division winners it will be split between 2nd division winners. So for this draw the chances are high that it will be split (probably not 44 ways though).

I guess the more people that enter, the more chance that it will be split amongst more people. Not sure how many people normally win second division powerball, last time it looked like it was only two..

It is interesting how some people say they would retire, but what does that mean. You have to do something to keep sharp, otherwise your life has no meaning, and it potentially could be a boring life, if you are not trying to constantly improve yourself. I guess travel is what a lot of people would do, but that can only be done for a limited amount of time.

Quite a few people do get struck by lightning, but not killed. Winning powerball has far higher odds than just winning normal 1st division. I would never enter Powerball, except for a 'must win' draw, because the odds are so low of winning division 1.. Whereas normal lotto isn't as difficult as someone wins almost every week. The people who lived opposite me won first division, so it isn't that impossible to do. I thought your comment may have been sarcastic, but it can be difficult to convey in text.

The latest tv ad with the mother who dies. Gosh I really hated that with surprising passion when I first saw it. If she bought 20k of lotto tickets over her lifetime what is the likely outcome? Because this outcome is more likely. A Bunch of soggy lotto tickets.

There's no real fun or pleasure to be had from flaunting wealth to the wealthy, it all gets nasty and competitive, so I'd do my best to lose any wealthy friends I have ASAP.

I'd invite some poor and homeless to a BBQ and entertain them by burning stacks of $100 bills on the outdoor brazier while I read quotations from Ayn Rand, explaining that greed is an ennobling virtue. They'd be told that they're welcome to share my pleasure in burning the cash, but if they dare try to retrieve ash from the embers, they'll be dealt with harshly for taking something that's mine.

10 For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil, for which some have strayed from the faith in their greediness, and pierced themselves through with many sorrows.

Sounds good.  Are there any other aspects of Phil Rudd's lifestyle you'd like to adopt?
