I've actually had no issues with hosting my own stuff, except for self-made stuff ups like yesterdays :)

 

I just got fed up with going to hosts that were either damn slow, or kept dying.  From home its noones fault but my own if it all blows up :) (Hence the Veeam backups running every day)

 Yes, the only home router you should try to configure is the one in your woodworking workshop. Even then be careful as you could injure yourself. Not sure how you could configure it remotely though.

Been there done that and now when ever the internet goes down for any reason at all even if I haven't done anything I'm blamed.  Having a router which you have to save every change to a startup config would be nice that way if you mess up simply reboot and the changes are undone.
