JayADee: I had no idea you had a ship named after you until you told me. Now that I do know I will tease you unmercifully and constantly ask you about it. :)

Yeah people won't let this one sink won't they... Didn't think this through.

And if it does sink I'm sure they'll just bring it back up again and lament the topic over and over as they pick over the bones remaining...

Ships are usually referred to in the feminine gender.

Original working title was Mikey McMurphface.

Just so I stop getting crap about this:

1) Yes I know there is a ship literally called "USS Michael Murphy"
2) I am not a ship.
3) I do not have missiles.

That is all.

To borrow from Blackadder...Michael? That's a funny name for a girl....!

Hahaha... guess you haven't seen Sense8 yet 😉

Seen it? I'd never even heard of it until I read that post! 😲

A little off topic, but these Arleigh-Burke class destroyers are amazing ships. I was part of a group of chaps who talked our way on-board DDG-90 (USS Chafee) in Samoa back in 2012. We were given a guided tour of the entire ship (including the CIC) by one of the chief engineers. A very memorable occasion! Your mission @michaelmurfy is to get yourself aboard your namesake some time...

Save that for the second date. Wouldn't want to put the girls off too early.

They really are. Unlike the most recent Royal Navy equivalent, hamstrung by bean counters and politicians, which was a complete waste of money and not fit for purpose.

Of course, these are the same procurement geniuses who spent the equivalent of NZ$30 BILLION on a new computer system for the NHS, which was so bad it was scrapped before it was ever used. Anyone in prison as a result of that? No. Probably promoted out of harm's way.

He's already there - USS Michael Murphy is part of the USS Carl Vinson strike group.

I swear this has turned into a public roasting - have not laughed so hard in quite a while.
