I, for one, welcome our new robot overlords.

You don't need to welcome them - they'll arrive anyway:

You had to think twice about it?  Human frailty.

I'm so sorry Sir for being my unintentional error, could you teach me how to be perfect since you seem to have it well in hand?

I personally would consider an implant that allowed me to insert an SD card and obtain knowledge instantly.

I always think to myself that it would be really cool if you could go to your local hardware store and buy a chip on how to regrout a bathroom. I'd even consider it worthwhile if the data could only be stored for x number of months, or you could only contain 3 sets of expertise data at a time.

@networkn:

A few years ago, Amazon ran a competition that said that if you could write an algorithm which would improve the recommendations during a purchase to result in 2% higher same time sales, they would give you I think it was $1M USD.

You're confusing companies. That was Netflix, which ran a competition to enhance their suggestions algorithm. More information here.

The confusion problem comes from Web performance comments, which saw some a few years back commenting how one second delay in webpage loading times could cost Amazon US$1.6 biliion a year. Since then this has been used as The Mantra to justify webpage optimisation. More information here
