But in seriousness.

So similarly their jets are here with some nice terrain to hug and a bit of empty airspace.

Equally, on the subject of size, they have roughly our population but can afford a proper airforce....

Geektastic: I used to get used as a practice target by the A10 tank busters stationed at the USAF be near the farm.

Be out ploughing or whatever and they would roll over the hill to practice aiming at moving targets. I did ring once and make sure the weapons weren't live just in case the pilot sneezed and shredded my Fendt in a spray of DU rounds!

No he had it right. SG have their F15's here.

*edit* Should read the article. They do indeed have their F16's.

You're forgiven. Despite the photogprahic evidence ;)

I spotted straight away they got wires crossed in the media release stating what the RSAF was made up of, vs what was actually arriving here as it mentioned both.

Finally we have F-16's at Ohakea, after the many years since Helen cancelled our order and got rid of our strike force.

It is indeed Singapore F16D's at Ohakea

My picture is also a Singapore F-15SG from the RNZAF Air tattoo at Ohakea. Those could be based at Ohakea long term, if accepted by the Government.

It makes sense for the Singapore Airforce to base here, the RNZAF based Vampires, Canberras  then A4K's in Singapore along the 1st Battalion NZ Army for a long time. The Singapore Army brings their large Artillery Guns here for training on a regular basis.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

At the RNZAF Air Tatoo at Ohakea back in February, the Singapore F15's didn't fly, was only a static display, but the US Air Force did send 2 F16's. From Japan. They were awesome to watch, even the Aussie F18's weren't too bad either.

A fighter/ strike force we do not need.

I used to live 10 miles from RAF Duxford, home to the Imperial War Museum aircraft collection. I used to sit in a deckchair in the back garden and watch Spitfires and things practicing for air shows. Brilliant.

The Army, Navy and Transport Squadron of the RNZAF have been used in many roles such as peace keeping, search and rescue, disaster relief border and resource protection and so on. Number 75 Squadron or decades practiced and did airshows, they did not see active service since the 50s and never likely to. Most of the Kahu A4Ks sat in Northern Australia.

I live in Palmy, work on the 3rd floor of an office building so have a little bit of a view, out towards Ohakea direction one side and towards the airport/Ruapehu on another, and STILL havent seen a bloody F-16 since they arrived!  Give us a fly-by dammit!

Edit just heard some jet noises above us, but cant see anything through the clouds - aaarrrggghh!
