likely local watercare work in your area which has caused debris to become mixed in. just run it for 10-15 minutes to see if it comes clear, if not call the help line.

My experience comes from fish-farming so I know how to make a system very killy for pathogens but not so sure about the human safety aspects like free bromate-ions from UV.

Right ... so most organic material is being removed prior to UV. What nominal micron do you go down to. I'm accustomed to 1 micron followed by carbon but that might be OTT for drinking water?
@MikeAqua Tell me more please about this Bromate ion issue. As there are lots of domestic filter systems which have sediment and carbon filters, with a final UV stage. So I'm interested to know if they pose a risk that has not been considered.

It's really not my area of expertise. I'm a fish guy and you wouldn't worry about that too much with fish.
But the mechanism seems to be that UV irradiation of water can produce ozone, which can in turn produce bromate ions. These are free radicals and suspected carcinogens.
