We had a girl start at one of my jobs, surname "Cockburn", pronounced "Coburn"..... but thats not how it got pronounced at the nationwide meeting...

Not an unfortunate name as such, but so many people have no clue how to spell or pronounce my surname.....

Over in Western Australia there was a Hirepool type company that did portable toilets called Cockburn Rentals (Cockburn is a suburb of Perth). Seeing a portable toilet with "Cockburn Site Toilets" on the door always made 15 year old me laugh. Actually it still makes 38 year old me laugh.

A decade ago in Wellington, my friend lived on the floor above a dentist named Anil Ramin. Every time I went to his place I'd have a chuckle as I walked past the business sign.

I've also seen some real pearlers over the years in the course of my work:

Theresa Leaphy, Teresa Green, Anita Poo, Disaster Hurricane, Iron Maiden, Heywood Jablowme, Calamity Jane Makara - all active customers of mine at some point.

There was also an Ivan Itchianus who applied for service but he never provided proof to verify his ID. Nice try though lol.

Who names their child Disaster?? They're just destined for a life as a supervillain or pro wrestler.

Used to go to a medical centre with a Doctor Rong. Name itself isn't funny, but it was always a bit disconcerting to to have reception ask "Is your Doctor Rong?" - kind of makes you second guess their opinion a bit ;)

I think I've mentioned this in another discussion on here, but my sister in law teaches at a school where a child was named Le-Lee and the mother insisted on it being pronounced "le dash lee". Poor child!!

Meet someone who's last name was Christmas.
At least he wasn't a Priest, but I was wondering what his wife's first name was though

Rod Studd is very good urologist in Wellington. After being named his career choice was either that or male stripping :-)
