I completely understand discount places and buffets where it's obviously designed around charging per adult such as buffet. We would never do it in that situation.

Sorry if that came across the wrong way. I didn't intend to suggest otherwise. I thought of in the same category of restaurant dining rules.

I wasn't offended or upset in any way. I understood you were just clarifying.

Restaurant can make whatever rules it wants. Entry is at its discretion. I am sure they will have a very good reason for this rule. Ask them!!

Yep. We come here often. Our kids eat very little, if we have to buy waste food we can go to another eatery [picks up car keys etc] [starts to leave]

I wouldn't asked and I wouldn't give them my money. With their attitude they probably don't like folks in wheelchairs because we take up too much room or eat too little. The owners probably attended the Basil Fawlty school of customer service.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Those are grumpy assumptions Mike! :)

I think it's more likely (upon further consideration) that on vouchers they make next to no money, and are trying to protect whatever margins they have, by encouraging customers to spend more.

Could well be, but based on life experience.

I had a client once who was told they couldn't order from the children's menu because they were not a child. We could not work out any sane reason why.

Encouragement is okay. That is just marketing. Coercion is not, especially if it comes from misplaced snobbishness. A voucher is money. Someone purchased it. The restaurant did not have to issue it if they didn't want that kind of business. If their attitude is that you are not worth their full service, my attitude would be that they are not worth my business. Without customers, they have no business.

Ive had that at some pretentious place once. Problem was the adult menu didnt have fries and pizza on it so I had to have some gross thing.

In this case, my client ( a very petite lady from Canada) did not want much breakfast and what they had on the children's menu appealed.

It rather backfired on them, as we simply left and they lost about $60 worth of business...

Given he is the President of the United States, I expect they would let him have anything they offered.

No, I know what that is, it was a place that was all fancy and used bizzare words for things in the names of dishes, trying to be all snooty and fancy. I hate going to dinner at places like that with friends when the food is normally not something I would like, and costs about $80 and I have to ask the server to explain what things are.
