timestyles: I still prefer IE7 - I prefer the default font that IE7 uses, no open new tab like in Opera and IE7, and the page down overlap (the repeated part of the screen) is too small. Apart from that, it seems ok. Haven't checked out the RSS reader - it seems to store RSS pages in bookmarks, which is not my preferred location. When IE8 has reload tabs on restart, all my 'wanted' features will be in IE.
Quite a lot of those things are available in Firefox 3:
Default font can be changed in settings (usually defaulted to Times New Roman or equivalent)
To open a new tab, press CTRL-T, double-click the empty space in the tab bar, or just drag the "New Tab" icon onto the toolbar
To save your tabs for the next session, just close Firefox with multiple tabs, and select "Save and Quit" (If this is not available as a result of a previous setting, go into Options/Preferences, Tabs, and check "Warn me when closing multiple tabs")
I have to say that Firefox 3 from what I have seen hasnt been a huge step forward, but what is noticable is fantastic.
Things I like:
The back button, The differant sized buttons are a good move I think, (Although I use backspace) The buttons look nice. It is quick to load allver and things seem almost clearer on it......
Things I dont like:
The new adress entry, I dont realy like it, as it isnt very clear to me.
Looking at that list, to me FF3 is a definite step forward.
seems good so far. the transition from 2 to 3 was impressively smooth. Almost all of my extensions were updated automatically, except I had to manually update Firebug. The buttons are ugly. I'd get rid of them if my wife didn't use them. I have fwd/back buttons on my mouse and I use F5 or CTRL-F5 to reload. So whats new? I don't really see anything new about it.
It FEELS just like FF2 did. I don't notice any increase in performance, I only see a different skin. Perhaps it has better performance on older systems. My biggest concern with FF2 was the memory leak issue, and I would also notice it would chew up the CPU a lot as well. They claim to have fixed this in FF3, so I'll be keeping an eye on it.
