Has to be NZ. Australia has too many things that bite and sting you, massive creepy spiders, they cannot make decent cars anymore(not for the last 10 years), they cannot play rugby. It does however have spectacular scenery.

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

I’d prefer to live here, I can’t do the thing I enjoy in Aussie, online poker is illegal over there.

Plus I like having good fibre connection.

If it wasn’t for two points above then nicer weather, more entertainment going out choices, I’d pick Australia.

Definitely New Zealand. I like the ozzie climate and have spent a lot of time there on multiple trips visiting friends and exploring most of the country (except Tasmania) by camper van, but if the choice was between Oz and NZ, no way would I choose Oz. It is better than some places, just not this one.

We are planning a Camper Van holiday there, it will need to wait until I am fitter.

Everything is bigger and better over there. Had to go up north urgently twice, this time last year. Rural Queensland, the supermarket in a drive through town like Marian (pop 3100) blows away anything in ChCh. Mall in Mackay, 1/4 the pop of ChCh blows anything away in ChCh

More variety on most things

Most things are newer and more modern

Better weather but depending on where you are its the not if you will be pummelled by a cyclone or floods, or fire.

Handy thing is, its 2 movies away on plane, easy to get to.

I am lucky I have skills that allow me to live anywhere in the world.

Before leaving my native country, I did a world-wide search of countries to find my new home.

If you're comfortable with the cold, Canada is a good choice. If you're young enough to learn a new, hard, language Iceland or Norway would also be good.

I think of Australia as the USA of the pacific: ignorant and proud of it.

The groups in the US the that reminds me of Australia most is Alabama red-necks or Californians wandering around Hollywood Blvd.

I guess the US state that reminds me of the most of New Zealand is Oregon: slightly isolated, unexpectedly hip.

I just wish it was warmer, and cheaper, in New Zealand.

I'm a dual national, so could easily move to Australia if I want. Main issue for me is snakes and spiders. As my job involves crawling into roof spaces and underneath houses. (plumber) So more likely to encounter them.

I also own my own house in Auckland, so not financial incentive to move.

Don't want to go offtopic however I'm sure gun laws are more strict in AU than NZ.

You couldn't pay me to live in Australia. As a socially liberal person, I find Australians' attitudes towards minorities and refugees to be fundamentally offensive to humanity -- NZers aren't perfect but we are far more enlightened in comparison. Furthermore, as someone who's concerned about civil liberties, the thought of living amongst Australian police is unthinkable. How many royal commissions on police corruption have they had?
