Correct. The site you buy off is dicksmith.co.nz or in geektastic case trademe "import tax and duty inclusive"

Edit also states nothing more to pay

I thought their pricing included NZ GST when purchased. I think this discussion has been had here before.

Edit. Looks like they now don't do GST and you have to pay it here.

Their Trade Me listing says

* Import Tax & Duty Inclusive - Nothing More to Pay

Leaves warehouse in 1-2 business days.

But it gets stranger. Aus kogan says it's an in-stock partner product. NZ Kogan says its an import for same product :)

And inclusive of GST etc, $1200. But not custom https://www.kogan.com/nz/help/new-zealand-import-taxes-duties/

The customs disclaimer? Nope, thats the NZ portal of Kogans - the alternate front end of DSE

With the same 'import' banner for the NZ side of it only. And disclaimer https://www.dicksmith.co.nz/dn/help/new-zealand-import-taxes-duties/

What I was getting at, is if the TM site says one thing, and the web another. I would expect a difference in pricing to include the duty and so on unless something shifty was going on

DSE = Kogan (check the site similarities)

P20 Pro dual = Aus model in Aus

P20 dual = Import model in Aus + NZ

DSE/Kogan NZ portal

P20 Pro dual = import (to nz I guess since aus model)

Pro Price online (both) $1200 with no addons but 'customs disclaimer'

TM.. dunno. But claim no taxes etc hidden (perhaps drop ship from a warehouse in akl and get w/sale duty costs covered)

Probably going to be easier to just get NZ colour and single SIM in order to avoid the parallel import thing I think. Colour I don't mind so much but I would like the dual sim - it's infuriating that they almost never sell those as normal models here.

Just thought I'd chime in..

A few months ago I purchased two 2017 iPads from Dicksmiths - because I'm comfortable navigating a fix under Apple's global warranty should any issues arise. They arrived a week or two later. As someone said, shipping is slow. But the price was good. It was a parallel imported model (from HK). The items were sealed and perfect. It was a good deal.

Recently however, I pre-ordered two of the Mini NES Classics from Dicksmiths with an extra NES controller. They only shipped one NES Classic that arrived in perfect condition, alongside a NES Controller that had it's packaging torn, squashed and what looked like previously opened.

I hit up support which was painfully slow (days between replies).

It took about 6-7 emails before they agreed to send the missing console from my order. It still hasn't arrived yet. (It has been 3 weeks).

They refused to replace the torn/ripped/squashed packaging of the NES Classic Controller - advising that the packaging was designed to keep the Controller from being damaged. This item was purchased as a gift, and arrived in an unacceptable standard. There was no signs of damage to the shipping parcel or the packaged console, so I know the damage happened before being shipped.

I opened a PayPal dispute in order to get action from their end. They offered me a store credit to the value of the controller + $10.

My recent experience has made me extremely cautious of purchasing from Dicksmiths in the future.. I would not buy any item of significant value where there is no global warranty as I fear that the more expensive the item, the less likely they will want to resolve the issue. Low cost items like this controller were more hassle than it was worth.. I'm sure the time spent disputing with support, and filing a dispute with PayPal meant that offering me a credit was the best course of action.

I would be exceptionally cautious purchasing any item that does not have a global warranty or would not be supported here in NZ.

I did find it interesting they provide a $10 'freight protection' fee for delivery quality

Carriage of goods act anyone. Sounds like a cheaper way out for them than bothering to actually follow up with disputes.

That's enough to get me to avoid them for this sort of purchase to be honest. Looks like I have to toss up whether dual sim is worth buying from a second tier supplier as opposed to single sim from a first tier one.

I used them to purchase a Pixel 2 XL. Delivery was slow and didn't have to pay customs etc. I enquired with them whether purchasing from their website as opposed to purchasing from their TradeMe store would make any difference. It didn't in regards to Customs duties etc.

I'd use them again, however I haven't had to deal with them like premiumtouring has above.
