I have an Omega Seamaster, 21 years old now. It is due for a service since the luminescence in its hands and dots is all but gone. I am told this requires a face and hands replacement, so it won't be cheap.

When not wearing the Omega I use a Withings Activite Saphire (the Swiss made ones, not the later models made in China). I also have a Fitbit Surge and Fitbit Blaze, but only use those when on a bike...

And yes, I wear a watch every day.

Only got a Casio digital watch and no other watches. I don't ever carry any other digital device to tell the time.

I usually wear my watch when I'm out and about, but I prefer to remove it if I'm doing anything manual with my hands. I don't like to have any kind of jewelry on my fingers or hands, or my forearms.

I *love* nice watches. I bought myself a Breitling when I beat cancer and whilst I don't wear it any more having moved to a smartwatch, I still consider it one of the most special purchases I ever made.

I have a Rolex Paul Newman, which cost ... lots, about 15 years ago, and has tripled in value. Not Paul Newans own, which is worth about $20m. I like Panerai’s as well, I have 2 currently. My most favourite watch though is a Sinn UX, not expensive but a lot of fun. Also have a Patek which I rarely wear. It’s a disease.

I don't get high end watches.

I have a seiko coutura, have had it for nearly 20 years probably cost around $500. What does a $10-20,000 dollar watch do that this doesn't? looking at some of the watches stated they even look similar.

TBH the main thing is look like a $10-20k watch.

Why buy a 300k audi when a corolla also takes the kids to school?

I want a Patek, have done since I was about 15. A yellow gold perpetual calendar moonphase. Would be about NZ$100,000 though....!

You'll be hanging on to that Rolex PN I presume, given the astronomical prices of them now - there is one on Chrono 24 at NZ$624,000....

I decided about 5 years ago before smart watches were really a thing, to get a Edifice watch, which his Casios more premium brand. I had some amazon credit, so it allowed me to get a really flash looking watching, which is also really reliable, but for less than $400. It is fully automatic, and solar powered, and does all sorts of things, but still looks like a analogue watch. The stopwatch looks really cool, but it is totally gimmicky. I had previously inherited an Omega, which is worth a bit and it looks good, but I didn't want to have to spend money in the future getting it restored, which would probably be more than the replacement cost of it. For that sort of money I could but multiple Edifice watches. So the Omega is kept for memories and it is on my side table, so I still see it. But since then I have got an apple watch, which I now use all the time, but to be honest I only use it for a few things, such as recording exercise, the time, and for alarms. The downside is it needs charging every 3 days or so, so sometimes I forget to do that. but apple watches have only a very short life, and those people that purchased the initial real gold version , series one, which was over $10k are possibly regretting it a bit, unless they end up skyrocketing in price.

Its a fabulous thing but the rubber strap rotted out completely in less than 2 years. Omega wants $1300 for a replacement strap, for what I reckon must be a $15 part and a poor one at that. So it sits in a drawer forever (I know that's the worst thing you can do with one).

I'd just go on www.clockworksynergy.com and get a Nato strap or similar to replace the rubber one and start wearing it.

I know a guy who imports and sells a pretty big range of modestly priced straps. I will PM you his details. If you email him and ask for a catalogue you may well find something to suit.

Yes I have always loved watches from an early age.

Thoe smartwatches have some appeal but I have always loved a quality analogue quartz watches.

I still think my watch fits into this conversation as its is not a smartwatch nor cheap to purchase in NZ $$

last year I came across Kronaby its a analogue quartz watch that is a Swedish company as they quote "they created a timepiece that honors our love for classic watches"

I wear the Kronaby Black Apex 43mm. It has ticked all my boxes.

The connected features that notify me of the calls or messages they I want to be notified of are just a bonus.
