Interesting that Aliexpress shell out for "lost items", yet when it comes to faulty items they're "tough, deal with it" if the seller refuses to refund/reply.

Not true in my experience... I've had a couple where the goods were faulty or not as advertised, and I got refunds.

Trouble is they don't understand what you are trying to say when you describe the faults in English.

Once I had been very detailed and described all the faults and the seller picked on a few words - "ok", "fine", "reasonable", "happy" and responded to AliX and said "buyer says it's ok, buyer is happy" and the case was closed!

So the next time I made sure to never type anything that had the words "ok, fine, happy, reasonable" or anything that could be misinterpreted. I am now very direct, concise, and use strong adjectives.

Oh, they knew alright, they even asked for a video showing the problem. Got email from the seller saying "we'll refund" but never did - contacted AliX and got told to deal with seller - not their problem. Gave up after that.... was a $15 item.

Stuff occasionally takes months  to show up, and yes, the tracking numbers don't always work in the NZ Post system.

I had one item get returned to the seller due to allegedly having a bad address, but it was the same address as I used for everything else, so possibly a mistake on NZ Posts part.

Yeah most stuff takes a month to show up, sometimes a few months, sometimes never at all. If I want something in a "hurry" I'll shell out for Aliexpress Standard Shipping, which usually takes about 10 days.
