I will not buy ANYTHING using a cashback due to issues in how crap these are. I have even told the retailer I will walk away rather than use one of these. My experience was multiple times added hassle to never getting the cashback at all more than once. Worst was a business purchasing multiple of the same item and we had pretty little emails saying your gift cards are on the way. Nada.  As was over $1000 yes we chased and chased. Useless.

I think (maybe wrong, but something rings a bell) that Brother had an issue with the ComCom over cashbacks (or one of their competitors did), and they really pulled their socks up and made a promise to have them processed in a timely manner (3-4 weeks I think). I've done a brother one since then and it went through well within the time frame promised.

Canon may have been in the same boat.

As for the OP - as others have said - go back to the retailer and demand (politely) that they fix it - 4 months is too long without any firm date in the future for resolution.

Ask if you can return the laptop - you didn't get what was advertised.
