Has anyone of you Pressf1'ers found out if the server is dying or if there is a chance of recovery?

Been down for a number of days 🤔

They did acknowledge that there was problems a short while back. They did say it would be repaired and was NOT being shutdown permanently , but had to take it off line for a few days to actually repair /rebuild the site. Didn't actually say what dates OR for how long.

So the problem is due to a vBulletin exploit that is also currently plaguing GPForums and PressF1. Read more about the exploit here: https://arstechnica.com/information-technology/2019/09/public-exploit-code-spawns-mass-attacks-against-high-severity-vbulletin-bug/

For example, I don't think PressF1 had 13917 users online on 29-10-2019 at 05:37 AM...

Also post on GPForums: https://www.gpforums.co.nz/threads/529617-HTTP-error-503?p=11338238#post11338238

PSA: If you have a password on either GPForums or PressF1 that is used elsewhere then change your passwords! Word is both sites still use plaintext passwords and these sites are running very old versions of vBulletin and web server software (for example, GPForums uses a version of PHP which is unsupported as from 2016). From this point treat them as compromised as it is clear by not upgrading their forum software they're simply not cared about anymore.

You have to wonder why Egor continues to hold onto GPForums when he spends little to no time maintaining it at all

I can imagine maintaining the software behind forums is a PITA over time. I guess that is why SaaS systems like Discourse are being popular.

It is very unfortunate and does not reflect well on an owner.
Could the user data be exported/ imported and find another "home"?
Merry Xmas to everyone
