Even if you have the box, how much is that item worth when you want to sell it anyway?  I do keep the box for some years but after that ... (?).  If we are talking about 5+ after, how much is it worth anyway.  And the talk of proprietary.  I guess if you have something that is still demanded like I have a Nikon film scanner despite that it is nearly 20yrs ago and Nikon have decommissioned all of them for 10yrs now, they still sell online for a decent amount.  Generally items don't attract such good prices.

Did anyone throw their original Apple 1 away ?

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

There are both pros and cons to this. If you have excellent organisational skills, then keep as many stuff as you want, but do well to organise and keep them safe. Else, your home will end up looking a trash can

I'm the opposite.  I've gone form "bit of a hoarder" to completely ruthless, with only two exceptions - tools and fishing gear.  Even with the fishing gear, I've simplified dramatically.

I don't bother selling most used items either.  I give them away to friends, family or a charity shop.  I just don't have the time or patience for dealing with wallopers via TradeMe.
