But what you didn’t say about rotten tomatoes is that only 45 people voted so far this season

73% across 45 critics is enough to give a good indication of the general critical consensus. The 12% Audience score comes form 7300 user reviews. This is Batwoman we're talking about now, those those just tuning in..

the ratings and viewer numbers are consistent with other DC shows on the CW network.  Most are averaging a million viewers.

My feeling is that those that don’t follow the other DC shows might struggle, because BatWoman started with a crossover from the other shows. I guess it would also help knowing something about Ruby Rose.

Also I don’t think the target audience is primarily male oriented which may play a factor.  This I think may be why some guys don’t get the new Dr Who (or should I say the old dr in a new form).

Even with 7500, user reviews are highly vulnerable to manipulation whether negative (review bombing) or positive. I wouldn't put much weight in user review scores especially when there are obvious reasons they may have been manipulated.

As for Doctor Who, I guess I'm one of the few who didn't find it particularly much better or worse than the previous seasons I'd watched. I didn't watch all 9-10 but did go on from the last season of 12 to 13.

Edit: Had a quick look at the Bat Woman user reviews and of the 8 1 star that showed up in the first page for me, 7 had not reviewed anything else. IMO it's quite likely there has been review bombing at a minimum.

Sorry intended to edit my previous post to mention this but got distracted. Actually the 7300 for Batwoman seems to be another indication there's something questionable going on there. I don't watch super hero stuff, but as I understand it, The Arrow being on the same network etc is the sort of show you'd expect to get more attention especially after several successful seasons and indeed the audience figures bear this out. Yet the most audience reviews is for season 3 at 2594. Season 5 is only 1194 and 6 and 7 are about under 1000. Season 1 is 2342, and I imagine a reasonable percentage of these only came in after the season ended. Yet somehow Batwoman which isn't even half way through this season is already on 7303? Yeah pretty sure something dodge has gone on there.

@ Nil Einne @TwoSeven

You could be right that the huge number of user reviews seems a little fishy, but the show is honestly bad enough that I can imagine people registering just to vent their frustrations! I'm sure there's also a lot of people hating on it just because of the fact that it is a bit of a vehicle for "girl power" and the LBGTQA community.

Season 1 of Batwoman is set before the crossover episode that introduced the character. I am familiar with Ruby Rose, but my enjoyment of the show shouldn't be impacted by this - she is playing a character, not appearing as herself.

I dislike it simply because it's just a very poorly written and poorly acted show.

As far as Doctor Who goes, I felt it started going down hill after David Tennant vacated the role. I attributed this mainly to Steven Moffat being in charge for Matt Smith and Peter Capaldi; and was quite excited when I read Chris Chibnall was taking over for season 11. I thought Jodie Whittaker was a good choice as the new Doctor.

In the end I disliked the season mainly because every episode had such an obvious "slap you in the face" political agenda. I have no problem with scifi shows commenting on the current political environment - Star Trek: TOS and  Star Trek: TNG often did this very effectively, as did the rebooted Battlestar Galactica. But it should be done in a less obvious way that doesn't detract from the enjoyment of the show, Doctor Who season 11 failed miserably in this regard.

I agree with much of the political commentary in season 11, but that doesn't mean I appreciate it being shoved in my face during my leisure time.

On top of that, it was poorly written and poorly directed (I have a tough time blaming the actors considering what they were working with).

I'll probably force myself to sit through the remainder of season 11 in the hopes that they learned from their mistakes and season 12 is an improvement.

EDIT: how do a tag a user with a space in their username?

Much better than anything from last season. Excited for part 2, let’s hope they can keep it up for the rest of the season.

Have not seen the Master for quite a while and this one looks positively evil. 😈

Coincidentally, Sacha Dhawan, who plays the Master, I just, Monday night TVNZ OnDemand, saw him in the An Adventure in Space and Time (2013) which is a Doco drama about the very first Dr Who program and its actor William Hartnell. He plays the very first director of the franchise.

Next episode is Sunday night UK time and is on at 9am Monday on TV2 (and on demand then as well I guess) :)

I imagine they are playing an encore episode later in the week, like last year
