How is BNZ the first when ASB, Heartland Bank, The Co-operative Bank and Westpac offered it before them?
Skinny was running a promo where top up by online EFTPOS could win something, I couldn’t enter as BNZ didn’t offer it. Though they have top up mobile in the BNZ banking applic which I use and works well.

They've always been good at being the "first" to market with things.

They did it with Apple Pay - despite being second (or possibly third) to market...I've forgotten the spin they used to get away with that one.

It'll be marketing speak - they'll be first because nobody else used a hyphen or some such nonsense...

Which is “ BNZ to offer Online EFTPOS using new Payments NZ standards”, using new Payments NZ standards will be the part they are first with.

I noticed with the Online ETFPOS in Skinny can pick the exact dollar amount, where as in top up mobile in BNZ applic have to use a slide bar which jumps from $16 to $20, so I’ll probably use the EFTPOS one when available with BNZ when it’s an in between amount wish to top up.

Got the PBC email, also, and immediately liked the idea. Better than gritting my teeth and opting to use visa and paying a charge!

Only thing to note - with credit cards you get card perks such as Visa's Zero Liability guarantee as well as rewards. So for example with Jetstar (if they offer Online EFTPOS) I'd still use my credit card over this as if a flight is cancelled all I need to do is contact my bank and they can initiate a reversal (believe me, I've seen the pain people go through with getting a refund from Jetstar when they've used POLi) where with Online EFTPOS you can't initiate a reversal if things don't go your way.

So for larger purchases such as a laptop, phone etc I'd always use my credit card regardless.
