I like that Steve from G.N. mountain bikes...

And that's really all I can say about his channel. For many it's largely OTT and after watching a video where he ranted about the stupidity of another company (a case manufacturer) I actually unsubscribed. Keep the negativity to yourself and we'll all be a little happier I suppose...

Yes, Linus is definitely over the top and constantly 'playing a character', especially on the WAN show - hell sometimes I just stop watching him on that show as he really gets on my nerves when he starts ranting. BUT I also dislike this bollocks from the 'communities' involved, where they want to see their favourite channel pull the other one down.

I don't care if a channel / manufacturer / staff member make mistakes, that's why pencils have erasers.

They can fix it. Allow them to do it and move on :-)

It did read of click bait,

What?

Steve backed up his title "The Problem with Linus Tech Tips: Accurarcy, Ethics and Responsibility" with a 40 minute video. Talking about about errors in videos, then backing that up with LTT staff saying previously that they wish didn't have such a short turn around on videos and wished they had more time for quality. Steve talked about how damaging a review could be, how they have millions of people that will buy or not buy on their advice. Talked about conflicts of interest with some of the shares and business deals that may influence the type of review they give.

All LTT needed to do was come out and say:

yup there are somethings we can do better, we are going to re-think our QA and QC for reviews and videos and if something is wrong we will take down the video and put up a corrected one in its place. We will review any conflicts of interest and have a plan on how to be more transparent or choose not to review some products/companies when LTT/LMG have a vested interest in them.

That's all the needed to happen imo, no uncanny valley fake tears PR bullshit apology video.

Oh and Linus needs a dedicated PR team to handle his internet comms.

**Disclaimer I have a bias here as a GN sub and enjoy Steve's humour and I like how he goes OTT on the consumer stuff**

The facts presented by GN are fine.

The bitchy commentary (especially about GN not having access to some YouTube features that LTT has) and questionable assigning of motives where there isn’t actually evidence is Steve being Steve and leads me to the conclusion that I have reached.

IMO it didn’t warrant a 40 minute video. You are welcome to feel differently, it’s just my opinion.

As a follow up I think the HUB Podcast discussion is much more reasonable, as I would expect.

Saw that, not sure if it was worth the runtime, but I respect your opinion and I'm glad I watched it.

I like their approach to dissecting what was said and approaching it in a relatively agnostic view despite him being lumped in with Steve and had his reputation called into disrepute when the LTT employee lied through his teeth.
