Only for some countries (as listed in the link above). When I moved here I used my Brazilian driver's license for twelve months, then applied for the tests. Got 100% in both and that was it. But back then (twelve years ago) I already had my full license for years, and experience on road and city.

As someone said, check with an instructor. You might want to get a couple of sessions just to be sure.

I got my restricted license today (I also hold a full overseas license) and I want to take the practical test sometime next week. I don't have that much driving experience (never driven solo for >30 mins, nor on busy/main roads), but I have taken a few driving lessons last month and I'm now comfortable with things like a 3-point turn, parallel parking, merging, giving way, etc. I'm also fully familiar with the current Road Code. I do try to get some driving practice now and then and as such I don't have issues, but I do like to know if any of you have any tips for getting in shape for the Practical Test? How was your test experience?

In short, don't do it next week, you need to gain confidence driving before you should do the test,

Get some lessons where you drive in busy traffic/main roads, driving is not just knowing the road rules, it is being able to adapt to all the crazys out there that might do things not in the road code.

You say you have never driven solo for more than 30 mins, you now have your restricted, find sometime and go out driving for an afternoon, choose a nice destination, and map out two routes there and back that will take you into conditions that you feel you need improvment with, roundabouts, motorway driving, whatever.

Once you feel you are more experienced in those areas you mention, book a lession and ask them to do it as a dummy test, this will point out any areas they think you need more work on.

BTW: Which country did you get a full license from without driving in heavy traffic/main roads
