More than 50% of users agree ion their poll that it is a good idea .  If elderly are restricted driving, such restricted to low speed areas because they doesn't feel safe driving at higher speeds with lots of traffic,  then it probably should be used, similar to  how learners have an L license. That is to give other drivers a warning that the vehicle may not behave as well as a regular vehicle.  We have to remember that driving is not a right it is a privilege and that can be easily taken away. If someones eyesight gets really bad, the license can be taken away.

When this country has good public transport throughout urban and rural areas that is frequent, reliable, and affordable, then you can say driving is not a right. Until then for many people it is an absolute necessity!

Maybe you get an 'S' for Shame for driving:

-Doesn’t indicate (or indicates after turning)

-Follows way too close (tailgating)

-Drives 20 under the limit for no reason

-Brakes randomly when nothing is happening

-Stops miles before the stop line

interesting idea. have it like shops do with their health rating. driver gets tested or based on complaints, gets a grade that has to be displayed. a little bit of public shaming to improve driving.

Driving should be based purely on competence.  Either a person is competent to drive unsupervised, or they're not.   I understand that sounds harsh, but the risks are too high.

Age has nothing to do with driving skill eg Kenny Smith. If older folks have to wear identifying badges what next badges to show religious belief, ethnicity, disability?

Here is a crazy notion, lets give peace a chance.

Whilst I get your point and I am not convinced tat these are a great idea, I could see my mum at 85 years old getting a set to let people know she's nervous but still capable.

Voluntary is choice compulsion is something else. Some disabled folk will have a tiny blue mobility sticker or a sign stating the vehicle has a ramp and please leave 'x" meters space. They are doing this by choice which is fine.

Voluntary is what was suggested by Boyd Steel.

He knows not for everyone would want it – after all, it’s voluntary. But for Steel, the reason is heartfelt

What would the A stand for - Aged?

"Ass hole"

It would be used by drivers of Ford Rangers.
They suffer jealousy of the high social status that comes with being a hilux owner.

I have been told that I am lucky or privileged for having a mobility parking permit. Oddly I don't feel privileged and certainly don't feel lucky.

I have been abused and accused of being false because apparently terrible disabled folk don't own new vehicles or SUVs.

Labels bring a lot of issues and attract hate and abuse. Labels are target.

Some people just have crappy brains, Mike. Hopefully they are still outnumbered by those who don't.
