No, I am talking about their fees on listing, sucessful sales, a reserve fee thats a %age etc...

dadilala: there used to be a free auction site... sellmefree? or something like that... but that never got popular... trademe really does take a bit of the fees.... It earns heaps, but they don't really seem to do much... hahaa~


There still is a free auctions site: www.sella.co.nz

The problem is that everyone just uses trademe, so trademe are king and can charge what they want. It's the way the world works.

Perhaps, but things change quickly. Remember when no one thought anyone could topple Netware for networks? It didn't take long at all for MS to pretty much wipe them out of the picture.

Look at Open Office...it will only continue to make inroads, as will Google Apps.

For any rational seller, he or she would choose the vehicle which gives the most market exposure. In this case, Trademe wins unfortunately.

The fee has gone up since Fairfax took over, but it's still reasonably cheap given the exposure you could potentially get.
