Heh.... many companies dont realise that playing their fav music on their hold music is a breach of copyright or something along those lines.... so you purchasing the proper licenses etc youre one of the few :)

IRD has a pretty decent on hold music list. The only problem is that the automated reminder plays every 10 seconds or so & you can't enjoy the tunes!

They have to.  Noone wants to talk to them, and the average hold time is "frakking ages" - so they have to make sure you have as little incentive to hang up as possible.

Now Orcon, there's a company that could do with a refresh to their hold music, considering the half hour wait to talk to anyone.

Edit to say: the MP3 encodings themselves on the site above are CC licensed non commercial, but point is, there is plenty of non-copyright material, or freely licensed material out there, no need to pay APRA, it's not like the artist really gets jack out of it.

Exactly. I don't beleive in those compaines like Phonographic Performances New Zealand, How much of the money ends up back at the artist?
