I was looking forward to it as a lead-in to the brillliant Seven Days each Friday night - but it's rubbish.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

freitasm: I read that the final episode of Lost in the U.S. had about 45 minutes of ads...

Yup

2.5 hours on TV, and the torrent stripped of ads, etc was 1h 45m (so I hear)

I was quite keen to watch it - looked like it had some good comedians on it.

Dont know what went wrong with it though - I didnt even watch the whole first episode - it was just that bad.

I was expecting something a little like 'skitz' from a few years back - loved that. Loved the "Jacqui Brown Diaries" (that was excellent), even liked "Diplomatic Immunity" last year- so its not that I have a problem with local comedy.

Radiradirah just seemed rambling and disjointed and not funny - Its a pity....

Not funny. That's all.

the first episode was pretty bad. The second was slightly better.

I'm hanging in there, just.

That is not abnormal, is it?  It was 2.5 hours long, so 30% ads.  Wow, that actually sounds like quite a bit.  Works out to 18 minutes per hour though, which I think is pretty normal (at least for US shows).  I've noticed Lost and Flashforward particularly have a lot of ads (frequency, not length), or at least it seems that way.  Hurray for PVRs.

Some U.S. shows have a new format, with about 5 minutes LESS ads.

FlashForward was canned.

I'd say (actually I did say) that 42 minutes is pretty normal for US TV.  Sure some shows might be a bit longer but not most.  I know Fox ran Fringe and Dollhouse with shorter ads last season, but what shows are running like that now?

freitasm: FlashForward was canned.
Yes, it was.  And...?  Are you saying that's related to the frequency of ads?

No, not at all. Just being a poor show.
