I recall that at one stage it was going to be sold to a Maori Iwi investment group and the humorists reckoned the name would be changed to Black and Deka.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

It wasn't that weird, it would have been 10Base2 thinnet.

You could bring network traffic to a screeching halt by simply unplugging one of the terminal connectors on the ring topography many used.

I remember Deka before they were Deka and still traded under the Mckenzies name - that was way back in the early eighties

So what happened to DEKA in the end? They went broke or got bought out, like our beloved Georgie Pie?

No, no it wasn't - I had been using thinnet for some time for lans at that point after migrating from serial modem. People leaving and taking their terminators with them was a bit of an issue till I got a box of 50 ohm resistors from DSE which worked in a pinch.

they were owned by Farmers, but most deka stores become unprofitable as the warehouse became bigger and bigger so all stores were closed around 2000/2001
