It's a big puddle, covers the whole of the cordless attachment ring - should really get a new one before electrocuting the family

Just an update:

The kettle had a 12 month warranty, but failed after 2 years 1 week. I returned it to Briscoes Riccarton and they replaced it no questions asked with an identical Breville nova kettle. I can't believe this kettle now retails for $120 and it's just a basic kettle! I paid $40 originally (half price).

Clearly a business that knows how to treat customers.

Thumbs up to Briscoes.

Even if they do have that annoying perpetual-sale marketing method.
