If that means using less energy, that may well be the case, but in reality we will find new energy sources and even more news ways to use it.

The 19th Century doesn't look very appealing to me either.
This, increased energy use, will continue and expand because we like the way we live and we are in control.
Hands up anybody who wants a life expectancy of 40? Yeah, that's about what I expected.
As to the climate. There is nothing on planet earth as complicated as the climate, it even beats the human brain.
Anybody who tells you "I understand the climate" or says 'The climate will do this...' is lying or has a book to sell. Probably both.
