Customers of leading New Zealand telecommunications company TelstraClear from Monday 7 November will start saving on fuel. TelstraClear is the exclusive telco partner of the new AA Smartfuel programme.
“We’re delighted to be able to continue bringing our customers benefits that make a positive difference to their lives as well as their wallets,” says TelstraClear chief executive Allan Freeth. “All TelstraClear customers, whether AA members or not, will be able to use AA Smartfuel to get a three cents per litre discount on fuel when they spend $79 or more per month with TelstraClear.”
With AA Smartfuel motorists earn, combine and redeem their cents per litre discounts by swiping either their AA Membership card or their free AA Smartfuel card at Caltex, BP and participating retailers. The fuel discounts expire at the end of the calendar month following the month in which they were earned.
“Our customers don’t need to swipe their cards to get their TelstraClear discount. Once they’ve registered their card with us they will automatically get it every month they spend $79 or more per month with TelstraClear,” says Allan Freeth. “However, TelstraClear customers will need to swipe their cards to earn discounts elsewhere. Customers already enrolled for AA Rewards are automatically in the new scheme.
“This is just the first of many exciting new benefits that we’re planning to deliver our customers, and follows on the heels of our recent announcement of the expansion of the websites that are unmetered for our broadband customers to include the MediaWorks family of sites, including TV3 and FOUR on demand TV.”

Mind providing some substance to back up that claim? I'm just interested to know why you think that occurs.

billgates: I rack up airpoints dollars now on mt credit card. $80 spent gets me 1 airpoint dollar and for every $250 spent I get 1 status point. You can swipe the card at any retailer or online anywhere. Much better than selective retailer schemes like AA or Flybuys IMO.
freitasm: So, does it mean the 10% at Burger King is gone?
