This thread lacks proof. Just accusations that people are committing fraud.

Cloudmelon:
And I would hate to hear about a child get injured by a 50" tv falling onto it..

8 month old Jayden Harris died on 22 Feb because a CRT fell on him.

Our CRT fell forward onto the ground in September, and although it didn't break we replpaced it with a modest LCD anyway. I'm glad we did because it could easily have hit one of our kids in February.

If you have kids I would urge you to at least secure any CRT, plasma or large LCD.

mattwnz: There could be a business in this. Kits for securing tvs. I haven't come across anything. I think there are business ones (straps) for LCD monitors and tower desktops.

Noel Leemings / Bond & Bond sell some. They're the first two products here:

Proof of fraud would be particularly difficult to prove in this case... unless people are dumb enough to brag about what they've done.

Just quietly, I've had quite a few randoms near me laughing about their old 14" TV that 'fell over' while at the pub... It's boom time at your local Dick Smiths / Noel Leemings though!

...if people aren't just spending money at the pub that is!
