johnr: Holden or ford its just a car with wheels

Yeah, they both suck as regards build quality and reliability.  That's why they're both losing billions of $ each year and laying off tens of thousands of staff...

Grant I am guessing you are talking about Holden and Ford Australian parent companies in the USA? As I don’t think these two are loosing billions of dollars.

And it seems Holden is the Mac of the motorsport world at bathurst this year, and hopefully the season too!

Yes sorry, I should have made that clear.  Holden Australia and Ford Australia aren't in such a bad way, although I don't think they are doing that well either, given the impact of current high fuel prices.

My comment about build quality and reliability still stands though, particularly in the case of Australian-built Fords (as I can attest from bitter personal experience).

If you read the Dog and Lemon Guide ( http://dogandlemon.com/ ) it will tell you what commonly goes wrong with various makes and models of vehicles.  In the case of our Falcon Ute, pretty much every thing they said has happened -- to us :(

And reading through the chapter on Holdens it does not sound any better, in fact worse in some ways...

Grant.
