There is only one industry I can think of that did really well out of 'digital distribution'. They did it by getting people to hand over credit card numbers from the start with the promise of high quality content. This industry also pioneered both secure online payment and online video.

Any guesses which industry I'm talking about?

Now, for an interesting turn... Do you guys place any more credence in individual posts form users on GZ about how terrible the state of their local roading network is, or how they were screwed over by a business?

They are largely isolated incidents, described by biased users, with little to no fact checking before publishing.

I apply the same filter to anything I see on here as I do to tweets telling me of crashing airliners.

Not to say there's nothing accurate on here - lots of stuff is. But some stuff... wow...

Cheers - N

No, that goes to the Herald. They used the spelling "orgie" on the web edition this morning. The singular of "orgies" is not "orgie".

"Musician scolded by water during Womad performance"

"A Mongolian musician was scolded by boiling water at the opening night of the Womad festival in New Plymouth on Friday."

Usually that comes from ignorance, but Journalists are PAID to produce copy on stories and I believe fact checking and Grammar and Spelling are included requirements.

As networkn said... When I post a tweet and there's a spelling error, well, so be it. Fat fingers, crap touchscreen devices, whatever.

When a newspaper pushes something with a spelling error, or no fact checking... Well they are the ones being paid to do it, they are the professionals and that is inexcusable.
