AFAIK you can only see accurate date information when you're viewing the images in the Google Earth application.
Edit: Sorry, the regular web-browser version now has the month\year of the image at the bottom of the screen, looks like that's new too.
The "new" image outside my place is November 2009. I guess there must be an imense amount of processing required for all that data.
Actually, I'm pretty sure they're the same images as a year ago, but they do look a lot crisper, maybe they've just been reprocessed at a higher resolution?

The date info. on the picture of a house we used to own was deadly accurate as I can tell from the "For Sale" sign that was outside at that time. However, I've noticed previously that Google Earth gave much more accurate dates. Maybe they have fixed StreetView now to be just as accurate?
That's impressive! I'm using Google Maps on my Android and the resolution on street view has improved ten fold, it's now almost usable on the wee screen.

Its not perfect though. If you go past driveway and look back on an angle then the resolution is good enough to read plates that haven't been blanked.

They month is right as my house is November 2009. Looking at photos we have, due building garage I can narrow it down from 5-10 November.
Of the 4 or so times I saw the car drive past, once two mornings in a row along the same street, I have only made it on StreetView once. Though it's quite funny as I'm at work and you can see me on StreetView and then look at the Aerial Imagery and you can see me from there too.
The better resolution is great. Can actually see things and read things on it now.
Hope they continue to drive round and get the new images up faster. Also would love to see historical StreetView like Aerial imagery on Google Earth. Have suggested it but as usual Google weren't communicative.

You need the good ol' red/cyan glasses. Real3D glasses work on light polarization. Your monitor does not have the ability to emit alternating polarized light.
