Those who lost interest after 1 or 2 episodes: Seriously, it's time to check back in.  From about episode 5, the series has kicked up into high gear, and you can see why it's been picking up awards.  Stakes are getting higher, plots are getting thicker, a real sense of tension through character is forming and getting interesting (rather than 24's old tension through situations piled on top of situations).  Second half of the season in particular is very good, and just kicking off here...

freitasm: I lost interested on the third episode. I think 24 is actually better, because we knew they were too far fetched...

About the same here.  Took it off the TiVo season pass.

Thicker plots, character forming...all sounds like hard work to me (lol).  Each to their own but by the time I get around to blobbing out in front of the TV on a weekday all I am looking for is a quick 1 hour story with a bit of action, maybe some mindless violence, perhaps a few laughs and a bonus if there happens to be a pretty heroine or two thrown in.  Shallow I know!  ha ha

The other one that has gone the same way as Homeland for me is that 'Walking Dead'.  Awesome first series, but this one is seriously like watching paint dry.  Just about to can recording that too.

scuwp: Checked out Person of Interest?  Nice self contained episodes, some good action... maybe worth checking out!

Cheers, I must admit the ads have sparked my interest.  On the TiVo program it goes :-)

I'm still watching Homeland.

I think it could get there and I like the red headed guy, Band of Brothers S1 now that was some quality TV. Yeah, it isn't perfect but what is?

Gave up on Person of Interest after it started looking like Person of The Week. Same thing again, and again.

24 is a mixed bag. The early ones S1, 2 and maybe 3 were awesome. But that last one, the best thing was the tag line "New York gets Jacked". No Central Park, no Statue of Liberty, no subway. All the way through it something just felt 'off' for me. Then I watched the 'making of' and found out none of it was actually filmed in NY due to budget problems, it was all blue screen. The production guys were saying 'And you can't even tell!'. Yeah mate, you can. Go watch NYPD Blue again and you will see the difference.

For me the big find of the new season is Once Upon A Time. Most original thing I have seen on the tube in ages. Fairy tales for grown ups, really really good.

[Yeah, the guy who likes Band of Brothers also likes Once Upon A Time, call me a complicated man]

CrackedbyCracku?

Once Upon A Time is a bit like 'lost', but I heard it was targeted towards woman. Infact isn't it written by the people behind 'lost'?

I lost interest after episode one but was surprised to see the nude scene in it which is not typical of a US TV show. Clearly this is a cable show.

CYaBro: Watch Touch, which starts this Sunday at 8:30pm on TV 3, as it looks like it could be a pretty good show.
As the 24 "idol" in it :)

Oh YAH dude that first episode was EPIC. Right at the end I couldn't catch my breath!

24 much much much much much better than homeland though I like both!

I'd like to see the Israeli TV series Homeland is based on...

but having watched S1 I can see that episodes 1-3 are really setting you up for a fall as the show progresses. I've enjoyed it immensely.

On VHS. From my Aunty. In the UK.

or something.

Sorry to HiJack the thread, but I have to say one of the best series I saw was "over there" whilst it was fiction, I found myself with an overwhelming increase in respect for armed services and the sacrifices they make. If you get a chance to see it, I HIGHLY recommend it.

Doesn't your Aunty have any friends in Tel Aviv who can legally buy the DVDs from a store and then send it to you? Wink
