Well I have an LG Viewty (gift from Vodafone) and a hand-me-down Nokia 3200 (a classic).

The Viewty has had it's fair share of knocks, bumps and falls... so now the flash doesn't work. Not that I really would like to take photos with it, but it's sometimes more convenient with a phone. Frown And the battery life on it is horrendous: it'll only last about a day tops if I do anything on it!

The Nokia on the other hand has survived for an even longer time (dunking in water, 2m falls, thrown onto concrete), but I can see it's time for an upgrade.

I'll be getting an IDEOS soon (my first Android phone) - but if I get the Milestone, I might as well pass it along as a Christmas gift to my mum Smile

Well... Where do I begin?

I have a hand-me down phone that is now in its third generation.... It’s a Motorola V3 Razor and has served us all well... My last phone died and I had to accept the Motorola or go without! I've had her for nearly 3 years now... and haven’t saved up enough to get a descent phone.

When I try to send an SMS I am often told that "SMS service is unavailable"... The earpiece speaker no longer works and I must make all of my calls on speakerphone!... Really awesome when you receive a call you HAVE to take in the elevator etc... And that is if you are lucky enough to be able to make a call or even have reception... As I hardly ever get reception... to the point where I can be in the middle of town and have NO reception or "Emergency Only"... At home I have to balance the phone on the window sill to send a txt while everyone else at home walks around with 3-4 bars... While it takes my phone 5mins to pick up one bar! Text input is often delayed (i.e If I press a button the stroke is not recognised by the phone for up to 30 seconds sometimes).

If I don’t charge her up the night before I’m buggared for the day... as it takes a whole nights charge to give me one days use... and by a day I actually mean only 15 hours! - close enough to a day...

Sometimes she freezes and I have to take out her battery... Some days she refuses to turn on... and others she encourages me to sleep in by not sounding her alarm... or choosing to sound it at an extremely early hour in the morning.

I am desperate to get a new phone... the one I have has some sort of grudge against me and has decided to make life HELL!.. But I simply cannot afford to buy a new one and I am just having to make do with what I have got.... I constantly end up staring into the shop windows while shopping and dreaming of the life that is possible with a capable piece of equipment.... But sadly it cannot happen.

Oh... and did I mention that she cannot use the internet... although equipped with the latest lightning fast 2G internet connection... we cannot load any pages at all or operate any data... This means that I am often left without any internet at all as my awesome 19kbps dial-up at home frequently dies.

And... While more comes to mind... the hinge is starting to break away and the screen is wobbly... it also jams sometimes and I cannot open / close my phone and have to crunch it open / close.

So please... If you want to help a person in need... NOW is your chance... Being a Motorola she has stood the test of time and has worked well throughout the years.

Here is the beauty:

I currently have a 4 year old Nokia 6220 Classic that takes really good photos & will go on the net but won't send or receive any texts.

It's been dropped numerous times (on concrete even) & there's almost no damage!!!!

Time for an upgrade?

Being an early adopter of PDAs I was so happy when they finally integrated mobile phones and PDAs into handsets. Prior to this I had a lead connecting my Palm into my CDMA handset and I thought I was the bomb with my 384kbs wireless capability. Gosh that was less than 10 years ago…..haven’t we come a long way!

I’ve waited some time for Telecom to get a decent Smartphone solution that would encourage me to bin my Okta Touch with WM6.1 (which has been fantastic) and move to XT. The Milestone is definitely the phone! The right features, easy to use and looks great! The best smartphone I’ve yet see come out of a Telecom store.

Currently using a Nokia 2730 as it came free with a plan.  Would love to try out a smart phone although it would probably end up being used by the wife as her phone is crapping out and she likes shiny new toys.

Well... I have an iPhone, but it's so intensely awesome that it's creating this rift between me and reality. I figure a Moto MIlestone would serve to close said rift and restore myself to sanity! :)

I'm inextricably bound right now to a Acer (ETEN) Glofiish x610 phone, which I bought 1.5 yrs ago, as it was the cheapest Touchscreen I could get. Running on Win Mobile 6.1 that nobody cares about, and hardware that refuses to communicate with any kind of Mobile Internet. Though it was quite a faithful GPS companion during my last foray into India, as I startled many a veteran driver finding a shorter shortcut.

Main problem: Just changed jobs into an environment where my Gmail is blocked and not having mobile internet is causing me to tear my hair out (from my beard that is, the only place left).
Problem No. 2: My company can't see beyond iPhones, and are only extending their rich services on to that platform. I need a competitive proof-of-concept to make them see reason and the great beyond.

Android appeals to my idealism - free and open, and appeals to my inner-Geek - lots of latest apps to play with. Motorola Milestone is one of the best Android offerings, with the hardware to demonstrate. The large screen, will finally have me avoid the hunched-over squinting-into-tiny-screen position I have reading ebooks on the train. Using touchscreen keyboards, I have come to believe in the sensibility of slide-out keypads. What's the sense in having a beautiful screen, if it is going to be half-occupied most of the time by a touch-keyboard?

3MP cameras on the phone are not good enough anymore. Anytime I want to reflexively capture my 3-year old bouncing around in a new fashion, the quickest thing to reach is the cellphone. The Digital Camera would be in the camera case, which would be in the backpack, which would be in the car - quite forgotten. The handy cellphone needs to become an adequate camera. The Milestone with its 5MP camera promises a decently detailed depiction, and the LED flash makes it a complete capability camera.

Though I like new tech, I tend to be faithful to what I have, if it takes care of all my digital brain requirements. The Motorola Milestone, will probably last till me a long time ....   till I have a craving for pico-projectors to be included, I guess.

That sounds like a great phone.  I have a friend that has a handset running the Android OS & she just loves it (don't know what brand the handset is). My 6 yr old Sony Ericsson K700i is on its last legs, the navigation stick now has a mind of it's own and only works when it wants to! My K700i was cuutting edge when I bought it and it cost me about $700 but now you wouldn't pay any more than about $150 for a phone with it's feature set.  Man have we come a long way in 6 yrs.  BTW, love Geekzone.  I have a number of feeds to keep up with happennings out there and the experienced members are great with valid, respectful & knowledgeable feedback to questions asked.  Keep up the great work!Laughing
