If a pedestrian walks infront of a moving vehicle with right of way then in no way is it the drivers fault.

I also blame the dark clothing that people in Wellington seem to wear.

Often seen people in the dark, dashing over the streets in nothing but black. Add bad weather to the mix and its easy to hit one.

KiwiNZ: A couple of weekends past I was in Wellington, during a short period of time I observed 3 buses and 2 cars go through red lights, it is not just pedestrians that are the problem.

I will remind people that this problem is costing lives.

Whilst there's no excuse for running a red light, it cracks me up when people use this is an argument for why pedestrians are getting hit.

Traffic lights aren't where people are getting hit so it's a pretty moot point in my opinion.

Running red lights is most likely getting worse given the knee jerk reaction has been to shorten all the traffic light times in favour of pedestrian crossings
