Kopkiwi:jarledb:Kopkiwi: Don't believe what you hear about NZ being this haven of safety and you can go where you want, when you want, by yourself.
Being streetwise is always a good thing to do. I have grown up in and around a city the size of Auckland (Oslo), and it has its good and bad places. Stupidest thing you can do is get drunk and crawl around the bad areas..Get to know the All Blacks. Get to hate the Wallabies. Learn to be patient with the Black Caps and learn to dislike the All Whites and their knob of a coach.
Here its soccer and winter sports that are the big gatherings. What City are you moving to?
Will first stay in Napier for about a year, and then move on down to the Wellington area.
Football. There is no such thing as soccer.
You do not have to jump on the All Whites bandwagon. They are rubbish and their coach is a joke.
It's definitely soccer to most of us in NZ. Even if we belong to a football club.
Asserting it's 'football' used to be, and probably still is, a way to assert that it's the preeminent version over its bastardised descendents: rugby, league, aussie rules and american rules.
