old3eyes: We're now crossing to our reporter on the scene
This has always done my head in. The story is the story regardless of where the report is coming from.
It's amusing for the weather for sure, but it's plain pointless when they're trying to convey this image of having their finger on the pulse by reporting from a dark street one block over from the action etc. It's just mental most of the time.
I remember when the news was a half hour show, much like Prime does now. Read the new and got on with it. Then they included Holmes for 20 minutes, and then he got his own show afterwards and then then they pushed him out to after that, so suddenly the news was a full hour and with a stupid half news show after it. All full of padding and crosses and skipping the fact that NZ is not that big for day to day news.
Prime are doing it very right with their 5:30 bulletin, but it's not in HD...
