Personal opinion:

Courierpost (Best)
NZ Couriers (Not too bad)
Post Haste (pretty bad)
Fastways (worst)

Post haste and nz couriers want a Auth to leave for each name which is a pain. Fast way and courier post are fine to leave everything in the box.

FWIW, as a seller, I use Pass The Parcel when courier is requested, which is of course Post Haste in drag.

95% of the time, not a problem, fast delivery, signatures when needed, photos taken when left to show delivery.

Christchurch delivery and pickup however can be a real gamble, most of the problems I have had are with chch and either
  1. they don't pickup from me for a few days.  I've resolved that by always dropping to the depot, it's only a couple minutes away anyway.
  2. driver doesn't bother to deliver, it just cycles between depot and van for days

The most recent problem, after several days in the end they passed the package off to Kiwi Express (another subsidiary) because in their words "the driver wasn't able [to deliver it]"  after it had been cycling for a week, local delivery.

Problem is, Pass The Parcel is the cheapest and more importantly, most convenient for small sellers like myself who might only send 4 or 5 small packages a week by courier, the rest all go NZ Post into street side postboxes or parcel drops. I don't do enough to justify an account, I don't want to buy books of tickets in advance, I don't want to be messing with different zone rates, and rural delivery fees, and I don't want to be standing in a post shop for 20 minutes every time I need to send a courier package.

Harveys and Noels always come out low in those (one year DSE was the worst, didn't see them in there this year).

I take all of those survey results with a grain of salt. I cannot explain why they are always rated low - if they were that bad, they would go out of business wouldn't they?

Because they have TV ads all the time.
Because that works.

Because they advertise sales all the time.

People want cheap.  Those companies are big enough to get away with it, and no they don't care.....it's all about the money.

Most small businesses take customer service more seriously - they have to.

Once you are huge and have branches all over...well, tends to go out the window then...

Look at Walmart in the US.  But they have loads of customers.
Same with ISP's , who has the best ratings, the little ones.

Even Orcon, they had a great reputation back when they were little and Seeby owned it.

Now.....well, not so great.

Never had issues with post haste, for whatever reason my usual NZ Couriers driver delivers my post haste packages.

NZC and PH are children of the same parent. If you are in an area where there is no Post Haste contractor, the NZC one will do it and be paid for it (and vice versa).
