diablo2nd: I'm pretty disturbed by the fish idea... Do people actually do this?

My Dad did this when he was in the police force. He hid a small fish up under the bosses desk at police HQ behind the drawers. Gradually the smell got so bad, no one would go into the office. They eventually found it though.

It wasn't my Dad's last day, he just didn't like his boss.

Nah, it's just stress relief to joke about it. I went out of my way to keep helping my employer after I left. Then they started taking advantage... Sigh.

I'm actually continuing to work on a big project that i started before resigning. So I felt it probably not a good idea to burn bridges.

networkn: /me makes a list of all the people who have made destructive suggestions and adds them to the file of people to never employ :)

Very useful guys, thanks.

If I was an employer I would absolutely agree laughing

Last day at work:

  • Bring a big box of doughnuts, a cake or some other thing that'll let everyone know you're going and to stay in their good books, maybe leave in your cafeteria with a sign saying thanks for the enjoyable time or something.
  • Delete all personal files off any computers.
  • Remove work email from any personal accounts online.
  • Give contact details to those work mates you want to stay in touch with.

Sure a prank is fun, and some good ones have been listed :P but ending things on a good professional note will always trump a quick laugh.

Unless they weren't particularly nice people, then by all means leave a rotten fish behind a filing cabinet or in an AC vent. :)
